The US saves the day again,![]() Disregarding the fact I am Pro-US, history tells no lies. Many people show their ignorance of history when they blame the USA for being for getting involved in other people's wars. The country who should take the blame is France, for they have a history of making a mess of things, and it's always the USA who is there to mop-up, even the Foreign Legion no longer bears allegiance to France, and has dropped the name of France from their name. I am no history expert, but I'll give you a few examples - WW1, they said the Germans would not be able to go around the Maginot Line, yet the Germans did, the guns in the fortifications not only faced the wrong way but they had the wrong ammunition. WW2 - the made the same error in the Ardennes and cost over 90,000 US lives in a harsh winter campaign that was needed to hold the Germans off. Don't forget the government surrendered within weeks of the war opening. Indo-China - Oh yes, that WAS French before WW2, but people blame the US for interfering when the easiest thing to have done was to say "You still owe us from WW1 and WW2, why should we step in and save you?" Who puts an outpost in an enemy-held territory in a position where it cannot get support, the French did that with Dien Bien Phu. DBP was no more than a look-out post in the jungle miles from the French lines. People make the error of comparing the loss of DBP with the destruction of the US base at Khe Sahn, and they couldn't be more wrong as Khe Sahn was a supported position that got destroyed when a stray shell hit the armory. These are only a few examples, off-hand I can add Algeria.
