My interest in Scandinavian cinema/TV goes back well before the current trends started by hits such as The Killing, Borgen, and The Bridge. I am glad I took the time to hunt other series down because to me, The Bridge is uninteresting when compared to the characters in other series.
My interest goes back to the days of B&W films made by Ingmar Bergman, life is not black and but shades of grey and we need to make choices that on the surface appear wrong to people outside the events going on.
I think to a large part, this is why I wrote stories more in the mold of Harry Palmer than James Bond. Though often inaccurate, I also enjoyed the French New Wave films of the late 1950's and 60's.
