People talk of the UK's debt to the EU as the EU keep demanding a leaving fee for Brexit.
How about the thousands of lives it took to keep Europe free from the jackboot of the German state in two wars, if it weren't for the US lend-lease project after WW1 France and Europe would have been in the German Confederation in 1918.
At the end of WW2, the US again paid the price to keep Europe free from Germany not only with the Marshall Plan, but the US also lost more men in the Ardennes Campaign than France did in the whole war, why? The French said the Germans could not drive tanks through the forests, but the Germans did what the French said was impossible and drove tanks through the woods, and in less than a month the Americans lost over 90,000 men,
